What is this Learnership All About?
This isn’t just an entry-level job; it’s a fast-track ticket into the financial services industry! Instead of just working, you earn a monthly stipend while gaining a powerful mix of classroom theory and real-world corporate experience at Santam (South Africa’s largest short-term insurer).
Over the 12 months, you will:
- Earn a Qualification: Study toward an accredited NQF Level 4 qualification in short-term insurance.
- Pass Your RE5 Exam: Get prepared to pass the FSCA Regulatory Examination 5 (RE5), a massive career booster and a legal must-have for working in insurance.
- Become a Professional: Once completed, you’ll be eligible to register for professional membership with the Insurance Institute of South Africa (MIISA).
- Build Your Resume: Gain serious corporate experience, learn how the industry works, and build your professional network.
Who Can Apply? (Minimum Requirements)
You must meet these requirements to be considered:
- Education: Grade 12 / Matric Certificate.
- Minimum 50% for English and a Second Language.
- Minimum 40% for pure Mathematics OR 60% for Mathematical Literacy.
- Citizenship: South African citizen.
- Age: Between 18 and 28 years old.
- Employment Status: Currently unemployed with less than 1 year of total work experience.

Who CANNOT Apply?
Please do not apply if you fall into any of these categories:
- You already hold a post-matric qualification (e.g., Degree, Diploma, Higher Certificate).
- You are currently studying towards any post-matric qualification.
- You have more than 1 year of work experience.
- You have previously completed an INSETA Short-Term Insurance Learnership.
